Haul freight under your ICC/MC # or the Carrier's?:

In order for an expedite carrier to obtain it's Operating Authority / ICC/MC#, it must present proof of CARGO insurance. If they don't have an insurance policy, they will not be issued an Operating Authority / ICC/MC#.  You can go out and get your own Operating Authority but you should only do so if you have a reliable chain of repeating customers (like the carriers  do).

If you, as an Expediting Owner Operator have your own ICC/MC#:

You to will have to provide proof of a cargo insurance policy. If you
have your own ICC/MC#, you should have your own expedited customers supply to support  repetitive loads or there is simply no reason to have your own ICC/MC#.  Its a waste of paperwork, time, effort and  expense.

If you, as an Owner Operator have your own ICC/MC# and you lease on with an expedited carrier as an  **AGENT**:

You will be signed on as an **AGENT** for the carrier. Then and only
then, will you be hauling the expedited carrier freight under your ICC/MC# - and your  OWN **cargo insurance** policy and your OWN expedite carrier name / individual  name (however listed on YOUR authority paperwork) … Any claims a s result  of damaged freight will go to YOUR insurer against YOUR policy.

If you, as an Expediting Owner Operator DO NOT have your own ICC/MC#:

You will not have to have or provide proof of a cargo insurance policy
simply because your hauling your carriers freight, with their name on
the Bill of  Lading (BOL) under THEIR cargo insurance  umbrella.
